Unbound Resilience

CASELOAD AND WAITLIST FULL- NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME

Rae Escareño, born at a very young age.

Welcome to my practice! I'm Rae and I've been convinced since I was little that the overwhelming compassion for others that I experience is best used to help people heal. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and have been trained in EMDR and attachment repatterning. Without getting too nerdy about psychology and neuroscience what all of those frameworks point toward is healing at a deeper level than traditional talk therapy. I work from a frame that acknowledges the harm that built this place and still surrounds us every hour of every day, and I believe that ignoring that harm is what typically leads people to staying in conflict with their own nervous system as well as others around them. My goal in our relationship is to be a person that you feel secure with and are able to safely attach to enough to explore the vulnerable (sometimes scary) parts of you so that we may better understand your needs and work together to figure out how to get them met.

Another focus of mine is disability and chronic illness. I am disabled (I have POTs, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and am immunocomprimised), I know on an intimate level the stress, grief, and fear that can surround us when we are under constant attack by our own body. Somatic experiencing is a great resource for working through and understanding symptoms that are caused or impacted by your mental state. While I can’t cure you, we can work together to identify some places where you can experience some mental or physical relief.

Outside of being a healing practitioner you can find me being a hobby hopper, I sew, crochet, read, study psychology, attend and assist various trainings and dabble in farming sim video games once every 6 months or so.

Here is a list of some of my favorite things: dogs, Bob's Burgers, trees, rivers and lakes I can swim in, Pagan witchcraft based in celtic traditions, the color chartreuse, and salt.

The story of Unbound Resilience is simple, I wanted to be able to provide care to people in an accessible way that also fully aligns with my values and how I view and treasure the therapeutic relationship. As a result of my own trauma and chronic health issues, I've been told my whole life that I'm resilient. I believe the more resilience we are able to harness in our healing the better our chances are that we can move through this world with regulation, connection to the self, and maybe even some ease. To be unbound is to be liberated, to be free to be authentic, and to be released from what is holding us down. Despite a literal meteor, the gingko tree has been around since the dinosaurs, I couldn't imagine anything earthly that has shown more literal resilience (also they're very pretty!).
